The Made-to–Measure techniques course is designed for people who have had experience in making a fully closed pair of shoes. It is divided into 2 modules, which must be taken in conjunction with each other. If you haven’t taken Module 1 already then please book into this course first.
The first module allows you to adjust a last to fit your foot and make a shoe to fitting stage, while the second module will allow you to fit the shoe and make any adjustments. You will work towards completing the shoe using traditional hand techniques.
This module will work towards finishing the shoe using hand techniques, it includes:
• Evaluating and fitting the shoe.
• Making any adjustments required
• Making leather stacked heels
• Making leather soles
• Hand finishing heel and sole.
You will work towards completion of the shoe with leather stacked heel and leather sole. Completion is generally achievable, but if many adjustments are needed there may be a shortage of time.
Things you need to bring with you:
- Your shoes and lasts form Module 1
- Sharp fabric scissors
- Notebook and pen
Please note, the class does not cover orthopaedic footwear. Maximum 4 students.
